I look at all that satin and I just want to gouge out my eyes. Satin is the most evil of fabrics and every cosplayer wants to use it for everything. JUST STOP! Satin is cheap and tacky and I hate having to look at it. My inner Rarity is going on a rampage. I’m not saying don’t ever use it, just don’t make your entire outfit out of it.

really? you are gouging your eyes out because of hard work and fabrics THAT I thought would work well for MY costume? that must be such an inconvenience to you!

ok so i hate satin as much as the next cosplayer, BUT there are good applications for it, and teagan’s black queen costume is a fantastic example. this design is MEANT to be in your face and over the top and GLORIOUS, and it is. it’s made well and everything sits and drapes smoothly and the colors look brilliant against the black bodysuit. 

honestly, a lot of the time i feel like people rag on satin just so they can sound like they know what they’re talking about. but if you were actually an experienced costumer, you’d know when and where a certain fabric is a good choice. no need to breathe fire over every single thing you see with satin in it- don’t worry, you won’t be considered any less of a tailor. but you need to accept that this is a fabric that definitely has its uses, and teagan’s black queen really can be held up as a god-tier example of appropriate use of this fabric.

Everything said above. I think it’s cosplayer instinct to shriek and recoil from shiny fabric like Jack is so helpfully doing up there for us. But in this case I think it works fantastically. It’s not a cheap sheen. Satin is NOT an evil fabric; just CHEAP satin, and know how to use it well.

And if anyone wants to fight me on this, I have knuckle dusters, come at me.
